Located at Rembau, Negeri Sembilan, Gunung Datuk is an ideal place for training purpose. To reach there, it needs 1.5 hours drive from KL, exit at Rembau/ Pedas/ Linggi (Exit 223). Turn left just after paying toll and you will reach a roundabout. Take the 3 o'clock exit and take a right turn at the traffic light at the end of the road. After this, you will reach the destination by following the Hutan Lipur Gunung Datuk signboard all the way. Just before reaching the base camp, you will have to walk through a rubber estate, with nice view.
You need to pay RM3 entrance fees when u meet with the authorities there. If you are not brave enough to climb up to the Gunung, you may consider paying RM60 for a mountain guide (which I think it is unnecessary since you can see a clear walking path all the way to the top).
At the very beginning of the climb, you will have to face the steepest and most challenging slope. For a regular climber, 45 minutes is enough for reaching the peak. About 2 hours of journey is an average time spent for those who are just fit enough for normal outdoor activities. It will be a tough task for those who seldom exercise and it really requires some stamina for you to reach at the top.
During the climb, do look around you. Feel the nature breeze, touch the nature green, and you will see what you can't see in the busy and crowded city. Look at the sun, the leaves, the ants and even the ground you are stepping on, it is so natural and so beautiful.......
